NT Speech sends six events to State

The North Tama Speech program competed at Individual Speech Districts at Grinnell High School on Saturday, Feb. 23, sending five students and six of their performances on to State.

"Overall, I was extremely proud of everyone and how they performed on Saturday," Levi LaRue, Speech Instructor said. "The snow days have really hurt our chances for a formal practice, so these students have been doing a lot of their own work and own practicing. The Iowa Star Conference Speech Festival is a place to get judges and critique by someone who isn't your own speech coach and even that got cancelled this year because of the weather so the kids didn't even get that feedback a couple days before Districts."

The following are results from the contest. Performances that received a Division 1 moved on to State at North Scott High School on March 9, while Divison II and lowered did not move on.

We are excited to keep practicing and getting better with the hopes of making it to All-State at the University of Northern Iowa later in March."
